In our project, we used several colors of felt: black, white, two shades of gray, two shades of brown and a little orange. Felt is a dense felt of various thicknesses. It is great for a variety of crafts, has a smooth, non-frayed edge, flexible and holds its shape well. At handicraft stores, you can buy felt in rolls or sheets. The most common size is 20x30 cm. For this project you will need at least three of these gray sheets and one sheet of each other.

Decide on the desired length of mitts. Our model is made as an analogue of short gloves, but you can sew them to any length. Measure the circumference of your palm at the widest part, under four fingers. Draw a rectangle that is as wide as your palm and as long as you want the mitts to be.

We have decorated the jersey T-shirt with felt feathers, but you can use any clothing of the appropriate color. You can also cut out a semicircular cape or large wings from a solid color complementary fabric and sew on the feathers in the same way. Sew the band around the neck around the edge of the cape or wings.

You will also need 10-15 cm of black elastic, 1 cm wide.

Pattern printing and cutting

Download the pattern file and print on A4 sheets. Make sure your printer is set to "actual size", "100%" and not "scale to fit" print mode. In the Russian-language program, the option is "real size". Cut out all the details.

Cut out a few narrow details - "feathers" from the scraps.

Progress

Cut out a rectangle of mitts as shown in the photo. Cut the second rectangle mirrored. Sew on triangular claws out of black felt.

Stitch the side seam, leaving a thumb hole about 5cm long. Spread seam allowances to one side and baste with blind seam.

Stitch in an orange iris and a black pupil. Cut out a small drop of glare from the scraps of white felt and stitch over the pupil. Stitch off the white circles.

Tie in black eyebrows. Stitch the dark brown trim on the beak. Place the beak under the middle of the bottom of the main mask and stitch. Stitch on each side of the mask with gray felt rectangles for a rim.

Spread out the feathers on the table. Lay out the feathers, decide on the alternation of colors. Make triangular cuts in some of the feathers. Begin to prick the feathers from the bottom row. Sew around the edge.

Run a stitch along the top edge, repeating the shape of the cutout of the garment, and trim off the feathers.

Buying a carnival costume for the New Year's holiday in a store is simple, but not interesting. You will get much more positive emotions when you make carnival clothes with your own hands. And if you involve children in this fascinating process, the time before the New Year will surely fly by.

BOY CARNIVAL SUITS

Bunny

To become the star of the carnival, it is not necessary to sew a full-length costume. Moreover, it is not always convenient for babies to move around in a bulky or heavy outfit. Sew a bolero and a skirt from them, and on top also wash various shreds, but not only fabric, but also rustling black garbage bags. Then the costume turns out to be even more expressive, due to the fact that it makes rustling sounds when the wing flaps.

In both versions, under the resulting wings, you should wear a turtleneck and leggings, the colors that are present on the shreds of fabric sewn onto the bolero.

We sew a headdress for an owl costume

Now let's get into the headdress. Take an ordinary cap with a visor, wash your eyes over it. An eye can be made from the bottom of a plastic bottle by painting it with yellow nail polish or acrylic paint with a glossy effect, draw the pupil in the center in black. These eyes can be sewn to the cap using the largest needle. Also, eyes can be sewn from bright yellow fabric, again, not forgetting about the black pupil. The owl's eyes should be very noticeable and expressive. Then ears are sewn to the cap, which are filled with synthpon or any other stuffing inside, because the ears should be standing. After all this, decorate the cap with shreds of fabric in the same way as for the bolero.

You can put on big, big round glasses instead of a cap - they will be eyes. And on the head is a hat with ears, decorated with shreds of fabric.

If you have an old feather pillow lying around in your house, then it will be very useful to you, carefully gut it and decorate the resulting suit with real feathers that can be attached to the fabric with glue.
