DIY wide leather bracelets. How to make a leather bracelet with your own hands: interesting ideas for topical jewelry

We will need:

  1. About 2 meters of leather cord (2 mm) (the length depends on how many times you want to wrap the bracelet around the wrist. 2 meters of cord will allow you to make about 4 turns of the bracelet),
  2. 1.5 meters of leather cord (1 mm),
  3. 6 meters of leather cord (1 mm),
  4. About 140 small beads with a hole large enough to thread a narrower (1 mm) leather cord,
  5. beautiful button (optional).

Of course, you can use leather laces of other diameters, the main thing is that they can be threaded into beads.

So let's get started! The bracelet on the right (photo above) does not have a button and will be fastened with a loop at one end and a knot at the other.

First, take a 2-meter lace and fold it in half.

Now we take a lace 1.5 meters long and tie it in a knot around the loop as shown in picture 1.

Then we lean the short end of the lace (in the picture on the left) against the center, and with the long end we tightly wrap the base of the bracelet in order to make a beautiful beginning.

It is very important to work carefully as the laces are very thin and can break. You can first practice strength on some other lace.

Now we tie a knot as shown in picture 2.

Then we put all the beads on the long end of the string (the one with a diameter of 1 mm) and at the end we tie a knot so that the beads do not slide off during work.

As for the short tip (the same 1 mm string), it can be cut or inserted into the first bead if the hole size allows.

So, move up our first bead.

Now we take a 6-meter lace and cut it into 2 identical parts (DO NOT CUT). For example, they can be rolled up in balls, as shown in picture 1 on the left.

We tie a knot (from a 6-meter cord) right under the first bead.

Well, now you need to carefully follow the steps shown in pictures 4 to 14

At first, there is a chance of doing something wrong, but do not worry, you need to carefully dissolve what you have done and start again from the second bead. Or maybe everything will turn out right away.

It is very important to alternate weaving “above”, and on the next bead “under” a thin cord in the middle (which is with beads). It is necessary to maintain alternation in order to fix the beads well and beautifully between two thicker laces (2 mm wide).

Well, do you see the alternation?

You can easily fill your hand, because this process looks more complicated than it really is!

Do not forget to periodically wrap the bracelet around the wrist to see its length.

Finally, place 1 end of the braiding lace in the center (for example, the left one), and wrap the other lace around all the other laces. Then we make a knot like at the beginning of the bracelet shown in picture 4.

Now we take all the ends and tie them into a large knot. We tighten it tight. Depending on the length you want, you can skip a little space and tie another knot and another, as shown in the last picture.

If you use a button on the other end of the bracelet, then the distance between the two ties will be the buttonhole.

So that is all! Do-it-yourself leather bracelet is ready!

Well, it's not even worth describing how good they look on the hand.

So, let's get down to the actual process of creating bracelets.

Diy wide leather bracelets

You will need:
... Leather straps (leather strips with clasp at the end)
... Ribbons
... Metal spikes
... Threads
... Super glue

You can simply glue a narrower piece of tape onto the bracelet and add some spikes.
Or you can attach thorns and entangle them with a bright thread (yellow, for example). You will have 2 wonderful bracelets.

A couple more options for the creative process "How to make leather bracelets"

You will need:

- leather laces - thin leather straps can be used
- floss threads
- glue
- scissors
- Scotch
- needle

Step 1
Measure your wrist by twisting the leather wrist strap loosely twice, then add an extra 10cm for tying. Glue one end of the leather cord to the surface so that it does not move and, stepping back about 5 cm from the edge, drop the glue on the leather cord and attach your first floss color to it.
Step 2
Continue winding the thread around the leather cord until you have made a strip of the width you want, then cut off the rest of the thread, securing the end to the bracelet.
Step 3
Take a different thread color and repeat the same procedure with it. Continue with steps 2 and 3 until you have made about 5 cm of different colors.
Step 4
When you're done wrapping, take the needle and slide it under yours. If you want, you can add a small drop of glue to make sure your floss doesn't come off.

Step 5
Tie the end of the lace that is closest to the wrapping around the other end of the lace. Make a simple knot. The knot should be strong, but the leather cord should go back and forth freely and slide through it.
Advice: Before tying the leather lace, wet it a little, and remember to make it softer and easier to tie. This will also help make a strong knot.
Step 6
Leaving at least 10 cm on the other side, repeat steps 1, 2, 3, and 4 again.
Step 7
When you've finished wrapping your bracelet on the other side, tie the loose end on the other side again.

You will have wonderful multi-colored bracelets.

Well, now for more complex options:
You will need everything that is at hand: leather laces and strips, beads, chains, glue, threads.

1. Bracelet with beads. Take 2 laces, place the beads between them and attach the beads to the laces, passing the threads through them and entangling the laces with these threads. In the photo: the first from the wrist.

2. Multi-strand bracelet with beads. Just grab some suede strands, a pair of end clasps, and beaded beads for your strands to pass through. String your beads and beads on strings, tying the string after each with a knot. Fasten the clasps at the ends.

3. Braided bracelet with beads. This is also an easy way. Just start braiding with suede threads, adding beads here and there, fasten the clasps at the ends, and you're done. This braided bracelet can also be made with a chain. Just add a thin chain instead of one of the threads and start braiding.

Don't stop your imagination. You can make your own variations and variations. The main thing is that you don't have to buy such wonderful bracelets in the store.

DIY leather bracelets (video)

An outdated jacket, an old bag or a piece of leather lying in the bins is the perfect material for creating a stylish piece of jewelry.

In this workshop, you will learn how to make a leather bracelet with your own hands from a tin can and a small piece of soft leather. For decoration, you can take any stone that you have, buy a natural mineral or use an imitation made of plastic or glass. Here amber plays the role of a decorative element.

Preparation of materials and tools

To transform a tin can, a damaged piece of amber and several small pieces of leather into a massive and stylish women's bracelet, you will need the following tools and materials:

  • pieces of soft and thin natural leather;
  • amber;
  • transparent universal glue "Dragon";
  • canned food tin;
  • scissors for metal;
  • scissors;
  • ball pen.

If there is no stone, you can make it from polymer clay, for example, by.

Step-by-step master class with photo

First, make a metal frame for the leather bracelet. Tinplate from a can of canned olives or olives is best suited, it is thinner and at the same time holds its shape well.

Using metal scissors, cut out a rectangle and cut the corners by rounding them.

Give the frame an oval shape. Try on your arm and, if necessary, reduce the length.

Make a backing on the wrong side. To do this, use a ballpoint pen to trace the outline of the frame on a piece of leather. For this stage, you can take material with defects, for example, with an uneven color or coarser.

Use scissors to cut out the backing, providing a one centimeter allowance around the entire perimeter. Spread the entire seamy side with transparent Dragon or Moment all-purpose glue.

Glue the backing to the inside of the frame. Fold the allowance to the outside, and make folds out of excess leather at the ends. Note that leather smeared with glue stretches well. Therefore, at the edges of the leather bracelet blank, pull it slightly.

Let the glue dry for a couple of minutes and cut the folds as close to the plane of the bracelet with scissors.

Decorate a woman's bracelet with thin beautiful leather and a stone. To do this, take a segment three times larger in area. Apply a generous amount of colorless glue to the middle and to the stone.

On the product, mark approximately the center point and from this point begin to glue the skin. Attach amber to the same place. While the glue is still fresh, fold your fingers around the stone. Cover the chip with drapery.

Add glue to the remaining surface and glue the leather decor all over the outside of the bracelet.

Shape the decorative drapery to your liking. Fold the edges inward. If possible, try to keep as few folds as possible on the inside of the garment. Cut off the excess.

After a couple of minutes, trim off all the folds of leather from the inside of the bracelet as much as possible.

Cut out another piece for the wrong side. Measure the workpiece by holding it against the surface.

Apply glue to the entire surface of the part.

Carefully glue the part to the inside, thus hiding the edges bent from the outside. Start gluing from the ends of the product.

After the glue is completely dry, give your leather bracelet its final shape by squeezing it with your hands for a few seconds into a small oval.

A thin metal base will keep the shape and give elasticity to the structure. Using this technique, you can decorate with your own hands women's leather bracelets and other elements, for example, seashells, sea stones and glass, metal details and even interesting beads. In any case, your masterpiece will be unique.

We also have a do-it-yourself leather bracelet, but we used a cord weaving technique. If you still have some skin left, decorate for yourself or as a gift. It is very exciting to create, in the end you always get an unusual souvenir or jewelry.

AFGHAN WEATHER
This type of weaving is widespread in the East. This is how they weave waist belts, horse harness, bag handles, etc. Having learned how to weave such a bracelet, you will at the same time learn a simple and durable way of joining leather strips without using metal fittings.

1. Cut two strips of leather 5 mm wide and 160 mm long.
2. Mark the edges of the slots with a blunt awl according to the dimensions given here or change them as desired.
RULE: a) the distance between the slots is equal to half the width of the strip;
b) the number of slots on the strips differs by one (we have six and seven).
3. Make slits with a 6mm chisel.
4. Sharpen the ends of the strips with a chisel or knife.
5. Hold the seven-slotted strip in your left hand with the free end facing you. Expand the nearest slot with an iron or a screwdriver. Pass the short end of the six-notch strip down through this widened slot, pull slightly, and straighten the braid.
6. Sand the short end of the six-slot strip and glue the seven-slot strips to the backing.
7. Using a flattener, widen the nearest slot on the six-slot strip, pass the seven-slot strip from bottom to top through the slot.
8. The principle of weaving is clear. Pass the bottom strip through the top each time.
9. At the end of weaving, pad the short end of the 7-slot strip and glue the 6-slot strip to the backing.
10. The choice of the length of the bracelet is yours. Trim off any excess from the ends of the strips. Punch holes. Install the bartack.

SINGLE PUZZLE

This and the next bracelets represent the embodiment of braid logic puzzles in leather. We refer lovers of such problems to books on entertaining mathematics.
1. On cooked leather, trim off exactly one edge.
2. Mark the ends of the slots and then cut them with a knife. The length of the slots is 160 mm, the width of the cords is 3-4 mm.
3. Now cut off the second edge of the bracelet.
4. Weaving. Mentally mark the top and bottom of the weave and number the cords from left to right: 1,2,3.
First cycle: - 3rd between 1st and 2nd;
- the bottom of the weaving between the 1st and 2nd (turning the cords should not bother you);
- 2nd to 1st, 3rd to 2nd;
- the bottom of the weave is between the 3rd and 2nd. After the end of the cycle, the normal arrangement of the cords is restored.
Second cycle: This cycle can be repeated 2-3 times until the end of weaving.
- 1st to 3rd;
- the bottom of the weave between the 1st and 2nd;
- 2nd to 1st, 3rd to 2nd;
- the bottom of the weave between the 2nd and 3rd.
Stop when weaving becomes impossible due to the dense arrangement of the elements.
5. Using a blunt awl or iron and tweezers, spread the braid evenly over the bracelet. Cut off the edges with a semicircular chisel, punch the bartack holes, set the bartack.

DOUBLE PUZZLE

A variant of the puzzle in which instead of three weaving strips, six are used. In this case, each pair of strips is taken as one strip, and weaving is performed in the same way as in the case of a single puzzle. Variants with nine stripes are possible, with three stripes being taken as one.

GIRL BRAID

1. Cut three cords 220-250 mm long and 3 mm wide.
2. Gather the sides of the cords with one strip of glue. The length of such a collected strip is 25 mm. The opposite end of the cords should be free. Insert the assembled end into a clothespin or clasp.

3. Number the cords mentally from left to right: 1,2,3.
Weaving pattern: 3rd to 2nd, 1st to 3rd, 2nd to 1st, 3rd to 2nd, etc.
Achieve an even distribution of cords in the braid.
4. When the length of the braided section reaches 140 mm, clamp the edge of the braided section with a large clothespin or a climber so that the unbraided ends of the cords remain free. Glue the unbraided ends into a single strip.
5. Cut off the edges of the bracelet with a chisel so that the unbraided ends are 10 mm.
6. Make two pieces to decorate the ends of the bracelet. Details are shown in the figure.
7. Sand the non-braided ends of the bracelet from the side.
8. Connect the ends of the bracelet with the details of the design of the ends with Moment glue, sticking the decorated parts to the ends of the bracelet.
9. Sew and set a bartack.

FOUR CORD BRAID

1. Cut four cords 220-250 mm long and 4 mm wide.
2. Gather the sides of the ends of the cords with one strip of glue. The length of such a strip is 25 mm. The opposite end of the cords should be free. Clamp the assembled end with a clothespin.
3. Number the cords mentally from left to right from 1 to 4.
Weaving pattern: 5th to 2nd, 1st to 3rd, 4th to 2nd and 1st.
Further, the weaving pattern is as follows: the leftmost “ON” and the rightmost “UNDER and ON”.
4. Repeat steps. 4-9 "Maiden's Braid". The details of the design of the ends of the bracelet are similar to those given above. Change the width of the gluing area to match the width of the cords.

CIRCULAR BRAID

To make it, you will need, in addition to thin leather, a rope around which the cords are braided.
1. Cut four cords with a length of 250 mm and prepare a rope of the same length with a diameter of 3 to 5 mm.
2. Glue the ends of the cords to the end of the string in a circle. The length of the glued area is approximately 15-20 mm. Additionally, secure the place where the cords are glued by tightly wrapping them with thread.
3. Divide the cords into two pairs - left and right. Mentally number the cords from left to right from 1 to 4, take the left cords in your left hand, and the right cords in your right.
4. Weave according to the scheme: pass the 1st cord behind the rope and passing it between the 3rd and 4th, lay it on the 3rd, 4th cord, pass the rope and, passing it between the rope and the 2nd, lay it on the 1st. Then we weave like this:
the extreme left cord - under the extreme right, the extreme right - under the extreme left.
5. When the length of the braided part reaches 130-140 mm, fasten the end of the braiding. To do this, wrap the end of the weave with thread. Glue the loose ends to the string.
6. Trim the non-woven sections. Their length should be 10 mm.
7. Make two end pieces.
8. Lubricate the non-woven ends with Moment glue and leave to dry. Now grease the details of the design of the ends with glue from the side of the bakhtarma.
9. Roll the decoration tubes around the non-woven ends of the bracelet so that the threads are completely covered. Flatten the ends of these tubes by tapping lightly with a boot hammer. Probably, the place of gluing on the tube itself will have to be glued additionally.
10. Punch holes for the bartack and install it.

HARLEQUIN

This is a version of a circular braid, which is woven with two pairs of cords, one light, the other dark. Place a pair of dark cords on the left and a pair of light ones on the right and follow all the instructions for the previous bracelet.

The article uses materials from the book by Ilya Micel “Leather. Braided and embossed bracelets ”.

We offer interesting master classes on creating unique bracelets from simple to more complex in execution. This craft is not difficult to learn.

Prepare a piece of leather belt that looks presentable (no frayed or protruding threads). Before cutting off the segment, measure the width of the wrist, be sure to leave a small margin so that you can sew on the fastener.

Find some suitable beads to decorate your jewelry. It is better that the beads are flat, then the jewelry will be more comfortable to wear.

Carefully begin sewing the decorative elements to the leather belt using a needle and thread of the appropriate color.

Fill the entire space of the bracelet with beads symmetrically.

Buttons are used as a clasp in factory leather bracelets. If there is no special riveting machine, then prepare the usual sewing accessories. The wider the decoration, the more buttons are better to use.

Gently sew the button elements to the ends of the bracelet using strong boot threads.

This method will allow you to get an invisible clasp. But a button or a clasp from old jewelry is also suitable as a fastener.

As you can see, you can make a leather bracelet with your own hands in a few minutes and at minimal cost.

A thick old leather belt can be easily and happily converted into a stylish bracelet. This is a pleasant activity that will captivate and allow you to realize yourself in needlework. We don't need any special tools. This hand-made idea does not require financial costs. You can cut the leather with a clerical knife. We will sew the beads with an ordinary strong needle. Beads are sure to be found in stocks. You can buy a colored lace. It is quite inexpensive. We choose the color of the lace depending on our own preferences. A pigtail bracelet is made like this:
Cut off the workpiece from the belt. It should be of medium thickness so that you can braid it later. We cut this workpiece not completely into three thin strips of equal width.

We make a hole in the part where we will have a buttonhole.

Cut off two pieces of colored thin lace. Their length should be longer than the leather blank, since we will form the buttonhole from the lace.
We pass both pieces of lace into the hole.

We tie it in a knot so that we get a loop into which our beautiful metal button will pass with medium effort. We fasten this loop with a thread.

Weave a braid from five parts (three leather and two from a lace).

We wrap the end of the bracelet with a colored cord. We tie it with a knot.

Sew on the button so that the length of the bracelet suits us. To do this, mark the place where the buttons are attached when trying on your own wrist.
Cut off the excess ends of the pigtail with a blade. We tie two wooden beads to the ends of the lace.

Sew on beads with invisible stitches, all kinds of metal decorative elements, beads.

We wear with pleasure a stylish bracelet, which is made by hand. The old belt has turned into a real designer jewelry.

Workshop on making a bright leather bracelet

A stylish leather bracelet is an essential attribute of a fashionable look. The variety of these accessories, today, is huge. And in spite of this, nevertheless, it is rather difficult to find what suits us in any particular situation. Therefore, we suggest making a stylish piece of jewelry yourself. They will make a bracelet that will complement an airy dress with a leopard print, or any other "leopard" thing. The whole secret lies in the stone that we will be using. It is a moss opal that resembles the color of a leopard. To accentuate the stone, we will use bright red leather. Place a metal base inside the bracelet.

Materials for making jewelry:

- genuine leather of bright red color;
- moss opal 2.5x1.7 cm;
- metal base 18x2 cm;
- rope (5 cm);
- instant glue;
- scissors;
- ruler.

We spread natural leather in front of us. Put a metal base on top of it. Using a ruler, we measure out the size of the future jewelry. We mark the center where the stone will be fastened, and the edges.

We attach the moss opal to the center of the workpiece. Liberally grease its flat side with glue and apply it to the skin. We wait until the glue dries completely.

Glue the metal base on the seamy side of the leather. In this case, we grease with glue only the central part (under the stone) of the base, while leaving the edges unsecured.

We take a small piece of cord.

Lubricate it with glue and wrap it around the stone from the seamy side of the skin.
We pull the skin over the rope in such a way that we get a convex framing of the stone.

We grease the metal base with glue. We put the skin on it first on one side. We make a light wave on the surface of the skin. To do this, gently tighten the skin with your fingers in the center, and smooth the rest of the skin.

We do the same on the other side.

Cut off excess skin. We leave a little margin for the inner side of the decoration, literally 1.1 cm each.

Lubricate the back of the metal base with glue. Gently glue one of the edges of the leather, tucking it inward.

We glue the second edge of the leather. We make sure that the edges lie as flat as possible, and there is no gap left at the junction.

We also turn the skin at the junction of the two ends of the bracelet and hide it inside.

We remove traces of glue from the surface of the skin. Bend the metal base carefully.

Bright leather bracelet is ready!
