DIY copper wire ear cuffs. How to Make Ear Cuffs: Earrings Decoration on the Ear Video Photo

The master class was conducted by Maria Babieva.

- these are unusual earrings that allow you to decorate both the lobe and the auricle without piercing them. They are attached as a headset with a hook behind the ear, or with a clip on the upper or middle part of the ear. In this workshop we will make one of the simplest ear cuffs that attach to the middle of the ear.

Materials:
20cm brass wire 0.8mm thick;
10cm brass wire 0.25mm;
beads, pendants for cuff decoration.

Instruments:
nippers;
pliers;
round nose pliers;
anvil, hammer (if desired);
ruler.

Master class on how to make cuffs with your own hands.

We take the wire with the tips of the round nose pliers approximately in the middle and make a semicircle.

At a distance of 3 cm, we make a second bend of the same.

We make the third bend flush with the first bend. The part that secures the cuff to the ear is almost complete.

We bend the ends of the wire at a distance of 2 cm from the first and third bends. We use these ends for decoration.

We make any pattern at the ends of the wire with flat and round nose pliers. You can limit yourself to an eyelet for attaching the suspension.

We fasten the bead using a thinner wire. Beforehand, you can slightly beat off the turns of the pattern.

Shape the mount using the base of the round nose pliers. Correct the shape of the decorative part according to the shape of the ear.

By the way.
Do not clamp the wire too tightly with the tool to avoid leaving tool marks.

The plasticity of the material makes it possible to adjust the shape of the cuff so that it stays on the ear and matches it in shape, which is sometimes lacking in factory-made products designed for the “average” ear.

Ear cuffs have been known since antiquity. They were used as an alternative to heavy earrings, as they allowed to relieve the load from the auricle and did not pull the lobe. There are several types of kafs and many variations. They can be attached behind the auricle, on the middle and upper parts of the ear. Some cuffs are combined with stud earrings or hairpins. Ear cuffs belong to the traditional jewelry of Indian brides. Among fantasy lovers, elf ear cuffs with a pointed top are very common.

This time we will make with you fashionable jewelry for the ears, which are called cuffs.

Today we will talk about such a fashionable and stylish decoration as cuffs. Cuff, if anyone does not know, this is such a special decoration for the ears that does not require punctures (although one puncture will still be needed sometimes). With the help of a cuff, you can decorate not only the earlobe, but also the neck, hair and temple.

A little about history. Ear cuffs are one of the most ancient jewelry in the world, dating back several thousand years BC. Such decoration was especially popular in Ancient Greece and Ancient India. Remember Angelina Jolie as Queen in Alexander? There were chic cuffs on her ears.

Diy ear cuffs

Over the past few years, cuffs have been one of the fashion trends. They are worn by famous celebrities, and designers decorate their fashion collections with them. But hande-made style cuffs became especially popular, i.e. make cuffs with your own hands. What we are going to do with you today.

Here, please, take a look at how various modern ear ornaments can be, as well as their attachments.

Ear jewelry

And here is a photo of the girls who are already on the lovely ears.

Oh, I really like the cuffs with chains. It looks just mega gorgeous.

Brooch ear cuffs look luxurious.

And now is the time to try to make fashionable beautiful cuffs yourself. For example, such as in the photo below. Do you like it?

To begin with, cut out the shape under the cuff, which will be worn over the entire ear. Thick cardboard is also suitable for this purpose, but you can also experiment.

We select the necessary rhinestones and glue them in the form of a pattern on our cardboard mold.

We attach the chain on the reverse side. Our precious cuffs are ready)))

Another very simple master class.

You will need: a chain, 2 sheets of thin metal and a tool for twisting them. Of course, if you find ready-made half rings, the workflow will become even easier.

Recently, original jewelry has come into vogue, which performs several functions at once. For example, cuff earrings - they can decorate the entire ear, temple and even hair.

What is a cuff?

It turns out that all good things new are long forgotten old things, and cuff earrings are no exception. Back in the Bronze Age, people began to make metal jewelry of various types. Scientists also find references to wire jewelry in the ancient history of Thailand and Siberia, in medieval Europe. In India, they are still considered one of the elements of outfits for holidays and ceremonies.

Why are ear cuffs so popular with modern fashionistas? After all, many of the jewelry of antiquity have remained historical artifacts. It's all about originality - cuffs come in a variety of shapes and sizes.

Plus, many models can be worn even if you don't have ear piercings!

There are several classifications that help to understand what a cuff is, but the main one can be considered the one that is based on their method of attachment.

With a bow

Some cuff earrings are not fastened on the ears, but put on them.

An interesting design, similar to a Bluetooth headset, allows you to decorate the ear without squeezing the earlobe, even in the absence of punctures.

Clamp

These earrings look like small rings that are attached to the cartilaginous edge of the auricle.

Often these are miniature ear cuffs, decorated only with a pattern or a small neat pendant.

Combined mount

Some products combine several types of fastening. The decoration becomes massive - it allows you to decorate the auricle completely. In addition to the types already listed, you can add here a standard mount for earrings.

There are also additional pendants on long chains in the form of small combs or hairpins that can be woven into your hair.

It is quite difficult to classify cuff earrings by their appearance or style because they can be combined with almost any style. Moreover, you can make such a decoration with your own hands, which you want.

And all the same, it should be noted that such ear jewelry is very popular with fantasy fans - for example, they can be a great addition to the theme.

DIY paper clip decoration

Making ear cuffs on the ears is actually very simple - you don't even need to own any special creative techniques or types of handicrafts. Expensive materials are also not needed - an ordinary paper clip will be enough!

  • Prepare a standard size paper clip in whatever color you like - yellow, red, blue, striped now.
  • Wrap the edges of the workpiece around a smooth-surfaced pen or pencil. DIY decoration is ready!

Try on the ear cuffs on the ears and adjust the size by pressing your fingers. Make several of these blanks in different colors at once - you can change them for different looks or wear several at a time, creating a fun rainbow effect.

The second version of the product is more delicate, but it is somewhat more complicated - you will need round-nose pliers to complete it. It is better to take a colorless paper clip and paint it in the desired color at the end of the work - in the process of bending the material, the paint may crumble.

  • Place a paperclip in front of you with the inner loop facing down and the outer end of the wire on the right side - bend it about 45 degrees.
  • You need to make about the same angle with the next straight segment.
  • Bend the outer end backwards.
  • Following the instructions, use round-nose pliers to form a beautiful blank with curls around the edges and long rounded "handles".
  • Bend the "handles", giving them the shape of a ring, but not completely, so that the wire jewelry can be put on the ear.

The finished cuff earrings resemble a cute little snake wrapped around your ear.

The wire from which the paper clips are made is similar to the one sold in creative stores specifically for creating such things - while the cost of a stationery set is several times less than one wire skein.

These two master classes will help novice needlewomen to practice working with wire and understand whether they like to make jewelry with their own hands, without spending money on expensive accessories and materials.

Nice wire cuff in 10 steps

In fact, it is not so difficult to make wire cuff earrings on the ears. For example, in the workshop below, you will learn how to make a cute two-tone ear jewelry. This model does not require special punctures in the ears, so even little princesses can wear it, combining it with homemade beaded bracelets, for example.

Prepare two pieces of wire of different colors, fifteen centimeters each, round nose pliers and side cutters of different sizes.

  • At the end of one piece of wire, make a small, neat turn.
  • Under it, twist a little more curl, as if drawing an English letter S.

  • At the end of the second section, make a snail-shaped curl.
  • Take both segments in one hand - now you will be working with them at the same time.

  • Make two large, smooth turns - clamping blanks - making sure that both wires are aligned with each other at all times.
  • After the second large turn, make a small round exactly as shown in the photo. This is the most important part of the product, which holds the wires of two colors together. If you don't tighten the loop tight enough, you just end up with two thin, monochrome cuffs.

  • From the remaining right end, make an arbitrary nice curl and bite off any excess wire if necessary.
  • Repeat the same with the left tip. It will be better if you wrap the curls in opposite directions.

  • Wrap the base for the clip around something that is similar in size to your ear (this could be a round nose pliers handle, a writing pen, or even an oblong plasticine sausage).
  • Give the garment a nice, slightly curved shape that resembles the edge of an auricle so that the jewelry does not bulge when worn.

Make two of these ear cuffs on your ears and put them on - this will make you look like a sorceress or a fairy-tale character. Experiment with different colors - choose similar or contrasting shades so that you get a new unique jewelry with your own hands every time.

You can also slightly modify the curls that decorate the product - increase and decrease them as you wish. In addition, chains with beads, feathers, pendants and natural stones can be hung on loops and curls.

In the article, you saw examples of master classes that allow you to make ear cuff earrings in the form of clips. You can learn about creating jewelry attached with a bow from the video tutorial:

A beautiful and very unusual piece of jewelry that will emphasize your uniqueness and peculiarity. This jewelry for the ears is becoming more and more popular all over the world, and today we will tell you how to make very beautiful ear cuffs with your own hands, from the simplest materials available to all.

How to make your own cuffs?

To create such an accessory, we will use the following materials and tools:

Round nose pliers.

Wire with a diameter of 1mm and 0.3mm.

Suspension wings, one large, two medium and 3 small.

Pendant with rhinestones.

White little pebble.

Connecting rings.

Chains.

Having prepared all the materials, we can get to work!

1. We take a wire 1mm in diameter and cut a strip about 30 centimeters long from it. Then we bend it in half, and give it a semicircular shape, if it is even.

2. The place of the fold with the help of round-nose pliers is made smoother, like a semicircle. We also do not disregard the other end of the wire. With round nose pliers, grab one edge of the wire and make a small spiral out of it, as shown in the photo.

3 ... Now let's take a large wing and attach it to our blank. This way we can see where the wire should be bent next. We bend the other end of the wire to the top and set it in the shape of the wing.

4. Take a thin wire and start wrapping the base of the cuff around it. You should start from the very bottom, and wrap about 2 cm, after which you need to stop.

5. The chain prepared in advance should be divided into five parts, and of different lengths, adding 1 cm each time. We attach a wing to each chain using rings on one side, the other side should be strung on a wire wound on the base of the cuff.

6. After each chain advanced, five turns must be made so that all chains are spaced apart. Then we continue to wrap the base until the very end.

7 ... Wire the white wing to the ring on the base, and continue wrapping the base until the wing is well secured. To make the cuff look more aesthetically pleasing, a pebble should be attached to the base ring.

Anna Titova (Lady Anna) is a wire craftsman of the highest level. Of course, the most memorable of her cuffs are dragons, but Anna's other jewelry invariably catches the eye. There is something attractive, alive in them. In an interview for our website, Anna will tell you how she manages to create her own unique alluring cuffs.

How did you know about cuffs and why did you decide to make them?

Once upon a time, very, very long ago I liked to wear the simplest rings on my ears to match the earrings - silver and gold colors - and shock everyone "Do you have any more holes ?!" Later, I don’t remember where and how I saw something, but I made the first cuffs from silver-plated wire with pomegranate chips (judging by the name of the file in the archive, something foreign was the source of inspiration). Then I made a kit for a friend's girlfriend. Pendant and two ear cuffs (one of which was lost by a friend in the process of transportation).

Inspired by the result and "Ahami-sighs" I made a few more sets. Some of them went to be friends, a couple remained in the "archive". Then, for a long time, I cooled off to the cuffs - because the clamps did not always hold well, and some clients had ear pain from the cuffs. I returned to the idea of cuffs after the birth of my son, when I had to urgently restore my wire-spinning skills. I gave up on simple fasteners and went to the "Indian" side - with options for clasping the ear from the very top of the auricle to the lobe. This is how the cuff in the "Bronze Wolf" set was born.

Friends and clients squealed “AAA !! What things, what new items! " and new fantasy cuffs fell like a cornucopia :)

At the end of last year, a wonderful client inspired me to create a fundamentally new model for me (sometimes it even seems to me that I have invented something perfect). Wing ear cuff from Blue Gothic set.

And already this year, unable to withstand the pressure of clients' requests, I returned to the Dragons. They are infinitely different, wise and beautiful.

Where do you get your inspiration for new cuffs?

Frankly, I love making things to order. Asking a person what he likes in life, what he wants to see on himself and do - this is very important for me. And the main reward in this process (besides satisfaction and material compensation, of course;)) is the exclamation of the client: "How did you guess ?!" "I like it so!" So the cuffs "Leaves", "Shell", "Bird of Happiness" were created.

Sometimes I work out of inspiration. That is, I just turn on music, or a film and draw what I think. And then I sit down and, swearing at myself: "And who could have thought of it that you can connect two wires like this ?!" - I create a masterpiece. Or a cute little thing. Or just a nice decoration for someone. What materials do you use? In the manufacture of cuffs, I most often use silver-plated wire. Occasionally copper - and almost never brass. It's a very capricious metal. In addition to wire, various accessories are used - silvered and "Tibetan silver", natural stones, crystal, glass, Japanese and Czech beads.

How would you describe your customers - who are these people?

My customers are always creative and extraordinary people. They love the unusual and the beautiful. They are sympathetic to the peculiarities of the creative process and manual work. I love almost every one of them. I like it when my jewelry helps to emphasize the natural beauty of the girl, when he becomes happier and more joyful when he owns them.

What are your favorite cuffs? Do you wear them yourself?

Now I hardly wear cuffs, only earrings with rings in my ears - I often have to take off and put on earrings to photograph products, and except for the rings, everything interferes :). I really like all my dragons, although I fall into deep sadness when I hear "Can I have exactly the same?" In general, I like more to create something unique, to create for each individual sorceress lurking in the soul of any woman. I believe that wearing exactly the same jewelry is like asking for exactly the same appearance - it is impractical and unnatural. After all, each of us is unique.

I am grateful to the portal earcuff.ru for the renewed interest in these wonderful jewelry and for the inspiration. I will be glad to see you among my clients, if what I do is close to you :)
