“Gladiators” is one of the trends of this season. Let's make ourselves a couple for the summer!

Gladiator sandals and drawstring sandals are everywhere now. And this is not surprising: such shoes are the main hit of the season along with platform sandals. As always it turns out that what is fashionable is indecently expensive and is sold out so quickly that you will not have time to blink an eye!

If you haven't managed to buy yourself "gladiators" yet, we suggest making them yourself. Of course, these sandals won't last long. But who knows, maybe they will just go out of style next season?

Method 1

The easiest way to make gladiator sandals is to tie leather laces to your existing sandals.

T-strap sandals work best. You just have to pick up the laces to match the shoes, thread them through the strap and tie them around your legs.

Ideal if you need gladiator sandals as part of your 70s summer look. For example, if you are going to a music festival or theme party.

Method 2

This method takes a little more work. As a basis, you can take flip flops or old sandals, from which it is not a pity to cut off the straps.

So, you will need:

  • Base for sandals (at your discretion).
  • Elastic band to make strap attachments.
  • Leather strap cord. The width depends solely on your taste. If desired, you can use two cords of different thicknesses at the same time. The only requirement is that the material must be soft and not chafe the skin.

1. Loops for straps

If not based on strap mounts, you will have to make them yourself. The optimal number of loops is five (1 in the front center and 2 on each side).

Poke holes with an awl and pull an elastic band through them to match the sole.

2. Thread the straps into the eyelets

Before you cut the laces, loop them through the loops and tie them around your leg. Chances are you'll need more cord than you thought!

Cut the lace to size.

3. Be more creative

If desired, you can use a thin gauze scarf, tape or braid as straps. The main thing is that you like it!

Spring is just coming, and people are already thinking about summer. They are starting to buy sunglasses, swimwear, sundresses, sunscreen. Naturally, this also applies to shoes for summer. Everyone is faced with the problem of purchasing summer shoes.

This is a rather difficult business, but some are looking for certain firms, models, colors, others need the price to match the quality, and someone has a certain amount of money and is looking for shoes for it. As a result, it is not always possible to find a practical and comfortable pair for yourself. But I was completely tired of wearing sandals like friends. And there is no money for exclusive and design.

Therefore, use the opportunity to make sandals with your own hands. You don't have to be a shoemaker, as any girl can make sandals. After all, if you have a good sole, then you can create a real masterpiece using ribbons, leather, fabrics, crocheting and other decor: stones, rhinestones, sequins.

How old flip flops turn into beautiful sandals

On the eve of summer, you just need to know how unusual and comfortable sandals are made with your own hands. For production, you will need old slippers, elastic fabric, an awl, glue, scissors.

Sequence of work:

  1. first, worn straps are cut off from old sandals;
  2. a strip of fabric is measured and cut off. It should be quite narrow and long so that it can wrap around the ankle, and more than once;
  3. holes remain from the straps on the slippers, so you should stretch the fabric cord in them and tie it on the sole itself, using knots;
  4. the side of the sole of the slap should be cut. In the resulting incisions, you will need to insert fabric strips that hold the legs in the area of the toes. You should not make a very deep cut so that the footboard is not so badly erased;
  5. cut the wider fabric strips. These strips will hold your toes. The approximate size is 8 cm by 20 cm. The length of the strips should be such as to prevent the legs from dangling. In addition, it is necessary to leave somewhere 1.5 cm along the edges, they will fix the footboard;
  6. then you need to insert the fabric into the cuts in the sole, press and fix the fabric with shoe glue;
  7. clamp the places where everything was glued with a vice and wait for it to dry.

In front, sandals can have a variety of models: fabric strips can be crossed, the strip can be glued straight, and the strips can also bond. In addition, it will be beautiful if you make jewelry from beads, embroidery, applique.

To make the price of do-it-yourself sandals low, it is recommended to use simple and budget materials.

For this job you must have:

  • sole. It can be left over from already worn out shoes, flip flops, slippers. Used insoles are also used;
  • material for the upper part of the sandals. This includes pieces of old leather, dense fabrics. Some knit the top with knitting needles or crochet. An old belt will work, too, as long as it has the shape you want. Sandals made in this way will be unusual, the foot will always feel comfortable. The belt can be leather or other material;
  • nylon thread, scissors, needle;
  • shoe glue, superglue. You can also contact a shoe maker for gluing and joining seams;
  • sandals can be decorated with decorative elements and auxiliary materials: rivets, buttons, beads.

First, the sole is taken, gets rid of everything that is left on it, for example, the straps from old shoes are cut off. With a soft footboard, it is carefully cut into two halves, divided into layers. The result is two parts for each of the legs. Alternatively, cuts are made in the place where the top will join.

If a regular insole is used or cut from linoleum, then two parts are made, one for each leg. Then the top is tried on with one of the layers of the footboard. Here you need to include imagination, experiment. If there is a desire, then you can get an extraordinary result.

The belt buckle at the top of the sandals looks original. If she is on one of the legs, it looks extraordinary. Therefore, do not be complex. Also used fabric top or crocheted. This shoe can be worn both outdoors and at home.

If these are slippers, they can be the same color as the robe. A belt is taken, the leg is wrapped around it in the area of the toes, as well as the sole, the required length is noted. The top layer is sewn into a ring according to the marks. The ring is glued or sewn onto the footboard itself. After that, the upper part of the sole is connected to the lower one, stitched, glued. It is better to use contrasting threads so that the shoes look impressive. But this is recommended for home slippers, because when walking on the asphalt, the threads are erased.

If a thick sole is used, then the upper is simply glued into a ring with the lower part. Of course, the outsole will not look too sophisticated, but it will not harm the quality of the homemade shoes.

If the sole has been cut, then the upper is inserted into the holes and sealed. When the sole is very soft, it is good to sew the product with threads, making the most durable seam possible. If you leave everything, you get slippers, and to make the sandals come out, you can use straps made from the remains of the belt. They are glued to the bottom of the sole, stitched, the fastener is sewn, with the help of an awl, holes are made for fastening.

Creating wedge shoes

To make creative and inexpensive DIY wedge sandals, you will need:

  • cardboard;
  • straps;
  • insole material.

A footboard is glued from cardboard in several layers according to a previously prepared pattern. The finished sole is painted in the required color. The straps, which are the upper part, are glued, then the insole is glued. Of course, such shoes will be short-lived and should not be exposed to rain. But it can be made bright, unusual, original. And its main plus is that it is inexpensive.

Surely you have repeatedly faced the problem of choosing shoes. This is not an easy matter, since someone is looking for a certain brand, style, color, someone is trying to maintain a balance between price and quality, and someone is just looking for the most suitable option for the available amount of money. As a result, it is not always possible to find what you expected.

Have you ever thought about making your own shoes? If you have a good sole (it could have been left over from your old sandals), you can create real masterpieces from ribbons, fabric or leather. And how beautiful crocheted sandals look! In our project, we used the simplest materials in order to minimize its cost.

To do this, you will need:

  • Sole. This can be a sole from old sandals or from ordinary flip flops, if you want to make flip flops with your own hands, you can use old insoles
  • Top material. It can be anything - a piece of an old leather jacket, any thick fabric (review your wardrobe, for sure there is something useful there), you can crochet or knit the top (it will turn out to be very original and fashionable, especially if you complement the image with a knitted handbag! ) I used an old belt. This is very convenient, since it is already the width I need and "keeps its shape", which is very important. It will be convenient to put on such summer sandals, the leg will be fixed. You can take either leather or any other belt

  • Needle, scissors, thread (dense nylon)
  • Super glue. If you have a special shoe glue - use it, or if you want, you can go to a shoe shop to glue the seams and joints
  • Any decorative elements of your choice (beads, rivets, clasps, buttons, rhinestones, etc.)

So, let's take the sole. You need to rid her of all the remaining straps if these are old sandals.

If you have a soft sole, such as a flip-flop, you can gently cut it in half (split into a bottom and top layer). You will get two parts for the left leg and two parts for the right. Alternatively, you can simply make cuts in the area where the top is attached.

If you, like me, use regular insoles or insoles cut from linoleum, you need to cut two pieces for each leg.

Next, we take the top and try it on the leg along with one layer of the sole. There can be a great variety of options !!! It all depends on your desire and the material used. Experiment and you will find your unique version. It is very nice and original to use a belt buckle! Do not be afraid that she will only be on one leg - this is very unusual!

You can use a textile or crocheted top. These sandals can be worn both at home and outdoors. Do-it-yourself home slippers can be made to match your robe. Believe me, no one else will have such.

So, you need to take a belt (or any other top of your choice), wrap it around the toes along with the sole and mark the desired length and position.

Then sew the top into a ring (at the mark). Glue or sew the resulting ring, if the thickness of the sole allows, to the intended place to the sole.

Do the same with the other sandal.

Next, connect the upper sole with the lower one and sew or glue them together. For stitching, you can use thick threads of a contrasting color and overcast the details over the edge with a beautiful seam. It will be very effective! But it is better to use this method for home sandals, as the threads will quickly wrap on the asphalt and lose their "presentation".

If you have been using a solid sole, you can simply glue the upper from the bottom into the ring. It will turn out not so neatly, since it will be visible from below on the sole, but this will not affect the quality of the product and the process of wearing (I myself wear such sandals for the second summer, many Chinese manufacturers would envy such quality)!

If you used a soft sole or a sole that was cut from linoleum, then you will also need to glue the upper to the first layer of the sole. If you made slots in the sole, then simply insert the top into these slots and fill it with glue. If the sole is soft enough, you can stitch the garment with threads for durability.

If you leave it like that, there will be flip flops. You can make summer sandals with your own hands. To do this, just add the straps. It is necessary to cut out thin strips from the remains of the belt (about 0.5-1 cm wide) and try on the slap. Glue the bottom to the sole, sew the connection on the heel, sew on the fastener, make holes for the fastener with an awl.

Glitter hairspray can add a festive look to sandals. Sprinkle it generously on your sandals - and the new look is ready! So you can effortlessly change your shoes every time!

Prepare ingredients for Adjapsandali (აჯაფსანდალი).

Wash the eggplants, cut off the ends and cut into circles or semicircles, no more than 1 cm thick.
Place the eggplants in a large bowl or sieve, sprinkle each layer with salt, and leave for 30-40 minutes to drain the juice.
Then rinse the eggplants under running water and squeeze out of moisture.
Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan, put the eggplants so that they cover the bottom of the frying pan in one layer.
Fry the eggplant on both sides until golden brown and cooked through, over medium heat.
Spread the finished eggplant mugs on paper towels or put them in a colander to remove excess oil.
Transfer the eggplants to a thick-bottomed saucepan or stewpan.

Wash the bell peppers, cored with seeds and cut into strips.
Fry the peppers in a little vegetable oil over medium heat for about 7-10 minutes. The pepper should be soft.
Transfer the pepper to the eggplant saucepan.

Advice. There is an important nuance in ajapsandali that must be paid attention to. All vegetables should be brought to full readiness, even during pre-frying. And the degree of roasting of all vegetables should be the same. Be sure to fry the peppers until soft, because if it remains crispy and elastic, it will not fit into the overall soft and delicate texture of the dish. This also applies to eggplants - they must be completely fried.

Peel the onion and cut into rings or half rings.
Wash carrots, peel and cut into strips or semicircles.
Pour vegetable oil quite generously into the pan, put onions, carrots, lightly salt and mix.
Simmer vegetables for about 20-30 minutes over low heat, until soft.

Advice. It is advisable to fry onions with carrots in a large amount of vegetable oil. In the process of such frying, vegetables are not fried, but languish in oil and their own juice, and they turn out to be very soft and tasty. Excess oil can be drained off after frying the vegetables.
Unfortunately, you cannot reduce the amount of oil when frying and get the same effect. In a small amount of oil (also over high heat), the onion is fried, burns, changes color and changes the taste of the entire finished dish.

Transfer the onions and carrots to the pan with the vegetables.

Wash parsley and basil, dry and chop finely.
Fry greens in a preheated pan in a little oil, about 3-5 minutes.
Place lightly sautéed herbs in a saucepan with vegetables.

Wash the tomatoes and grate on a coarse grater - the tomato mass will remain in the bowl, and the skin is in hand (discard the skin).
Pour the tomato mass into a saucepan with vegetables.
Add spices to ajapsandali: coriander, utskho-suneli and Imeretian saffron.

If you like spicy, you can add hot pepper cut into thin rings (without seeds).

Advice. Hot peppers need to be handled with rubber gloves so as not to accidentally get severe irritation of the mucous membranes.
The pungency of the pepper is concentrated in the seeds - they are most often removed (remove the seeds or not - at your discretion).

To cook cilantro and garlic dressing .
Wash cilantro, dry with paper towels and chop finely.
Peel the garlic and cut the cloves into 3-5 pieces.
Put the garlic in a mortar, add a large pinch of coarse salt - mash the garlic and salt with a pestle, then heat to make a garlic gruel.
Add cilantro little by little and crush together with garlic until smooth.

Advice 1. Rub the garlic with the salt to keep it from darkening, and the coarse salt crystals make it easier to rub.
Do not add too much salt to avoid oversalting the dish. Best added at the end of cooking, to taste.

Tip 2. If you don't have a mortar, you can try mincing the cilantro and garlic.

Transfer the dressing to the vegetables and mix gently.

Girls' shoes are a perennial problem for moms. The child's leg grows quickly, but this is not the most important thing. The formation of her gait and posture depends on the convenience of the shoes in which the daughter walks and learns the world around her. In order to protect your child's running, walking and other joys of movement, we have prepared for you a wonderful master class on how to sew children's sandals with your own hands.

Required materials and tools:

  • pieces of felt;
  • artificial leather (vinyl), which must be soft enough, otherwise it will then have to be stretched .;
  • sewing materials.

Making the sole

In order to make the sole of our children's sandals with your own hands, take the shoes that your daughter is wearing for the template. Cut out two identical but symmetrical ovals and one piece of felt from the leather. All details are part of one sandal. Fold the three pieces together so the felt is between the vinyl and the vinyl pieces are facing out in both cases. Sew the sole stock in several places. To prevent the layers from shifting, the first line must be done in the center.

Making an accordion

Then cut two strips out of the vinyl to create a strap that will sit over your toes. Sew them along both long edges together. For the center of our strap, cut a small strip. Sew on both sides. Now take a large strip and fold it in half, with the edges facing up, as shown in the photo. And then fold the edges one more time, to the other side, so that you get a beautiful accordion.

We wrap the accordion

Wrap the middle of the accordion with a narrow strip of leather, bringing the ends of the strip to the wrong side. From the seamy side, cut off excess from the strip and sew the edges. The result is a curved part of the top of the sandal, which, due to its curvature, will perfectly wrap around a child's foot.

Making a strap for the back

Now it's time to tackle the strap that will hold your foot in the back, preventing the shoes from flying off it. To do this, cut out four strips of leather and cut off a piece from a wide elastic band. Place the end of the elastic between the two strips of leather and sew with two seams for security. We do the same with the other ends of the elastic. Be sure to check that the front of the leather is on the outside on both sides of the strap.

We sew the strap and attach it in place

Sew the straps all the way around. Now the crucial moment has come - it is necessary to correctly place the straps, especially those that will wrap the leg over the heel. If it fits tightly to the foot, then the shoes can be uncomfortable for your child. If it's weak, then children's handmade sandals will fly off.

Sewing details

Place the daughter's foot on the sole of the future sandals and attach both straps to it. Mark the required length of the strap and cut off any excess. Do not forget to mark on the wide strap where the wrapping strap will fit. Open the seams at these points and sew in the strap. Now place the strap on the top of the sole. Try on the girl's sandals again to determine the correct connection between the sole and the belt. Connect all the pieces and sew on the sewing machine at the very edge of the sole. Cut off any excess at the strap so that they end strictly at the edge of the sole.

DIY children's sandals are ready!

Now we will process the outer edges of the sole, for this we cut out of the leather along an oblique strip with a width that will allow it to be folded in half lengthwise. Fold the strip in half and slide it over the edge of the sole, covering the raw edges. Stitch on this strip by grabbing the bottom of the piping. To make the bias tape from leather lay down neatly, pull it slightly with even force. Trim off any excess so that the angled ends of the bias tape overlap the beginning by a few centimeters. Repeat all these steps in order to make your own baby sandals for the second leg. Ready!
